Basketball Recap: Dane Hatfield's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hoover over Riverside

On Wednesday, the Hoover Huskies came up short against the Riverside Warriors and fell 61-51.

Hoover lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dane Hatfield, who posted 25 points. Hatfield's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. Donovan Brown was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Riverside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Coles, who scored 15 points and five steals. Coles has become a key player for Riverside: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least five steals, but 0-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryer Mullins, who went 6 of 13 to rack up 18 points.

Hoover's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Riverside, their win bumped their record up to 3-12.

Hoover has already played their next matchup, a 61-33 victory against Sissonville on the 7th. As for Riverside, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-54 win against Teays Valley Christian on the 7th.
