Baseball Game Preview: Cary Imps vs. Apex Cougars

Cary hasn't had much luck against Apex recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Imps will head out to take on the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Wednesday, Cary came up short against Holly Springs and fell 8-3.

Cary saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Mohler, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Apex didn't have quite enough to beat Green Hope on Monday and fell 10-9. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost three in a row.

ADRIAN GONZALEZ and JAY HALE did some serious damage despite the final result: GONZALEZ went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while HALE went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. GONZALEZ is becoming a predictor of Apex's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 2-1 (and 10-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of JAYDEN TROFATTER, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Cary's record now sits at 6-16. As for Apex, their record is now 12-12.

Cary couldn't quite finish off Apex in their previous meeting back in March and fell 4-2. Can the Imps avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
