Softball Recap: Philo Victorious

Philo's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Maysville Panthers. The win continues a trend for the Electrics in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won six in a row.

Cassidy Himes made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyleigh McGraw, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Lexie Charles was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Philo's record now sits at 5-10. As for Maysville, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Philo will head out to face off against West Holmes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Electrics' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Maysville, they will take on Cambridge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
