Basketball Recap: New Smyrna Beach Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

New Smyrna Beach had won two straight road games and Owen Mclaughlin did his part to make it three on Saturday. The New Smyrna Beach Barracudas snuck past the Spanish River Sharks with a 40-34 win thanks in part to Mclaughlin, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 boards. The matchup was his fifth in a row with at least ten points.

When it comes to explaining why Spanish River lost, don't look at Devan Degiuseppe. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points. Edens Dortelus was another key player, putting up five points and five rebounds.

New Smyrna Beach has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Spanish River, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
