Basketball Recap: Walsenburg Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Walsenburg duked it out with Del Norte on Saturday. The Walsenburg Panthers had to suffer through a 44-4 loss at the hands of the Del Norte Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Tigers are ranked 106th).

Del Norte got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Parra out in front who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynley Brown, who went 5-for-9 on her way to 12 points.

Walsenburg has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Del Norte, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Walsenburg has already played their next matchup, a 59-17 defeat against Crowley County on the 11th. As for Del Norte, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-38 loss against Sanford on the 14th.
