Basketball Game Preview: Montezuma-Cortez Panthers vs. Timnath Cubs

The Montezuma-Cortez Panthers will face off against the Timnath Cubs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Montezuma-Cortez is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Bayfield just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to the Wolverines 49-44.

Meanwhile, Timnath had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 58-50 victory over the Spartans.

Montezuma-Cortez better keep an eye on Max Roselle. He was instrumental in Timnath's win, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 boards gave Roselle a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Mock, who shot 71% from the field en route to 10 points.

Timnath smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berthoud only two offensive boards.

Timnath pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points over those games. As for Montezuma-Cortez, their loss dropped their record down to 17-6.
