Soccer Recap: Wheatland Comes Up Short

There was early excitement for Wheatland after they claimed the first goal on Wednesday, however, they wouldn't score again. They fell just short of the Oakmont Vikings by a score of 2-1. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Wheatland's goal came courtesy of Tanner Scott, who's now up to 11 this season.

Wheatland's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-12-2. As for Oakmont, their win bumped their record up to 6-4-5.

Wheatland will square off against Colfax at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Wheatland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.2 goals per game this season. As for Oakmont, they will take on Mira Loma at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mira Loma will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Oakmont surely won't give up without a fight.
