Softball Game Recap: Southwestern Wildcats vs. Platteville Hillmen

Southwestern had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-13 to make it eight. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 6-0 to the Platteville Hillmen, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hillmen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 on Friday.

As for Platteville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games.

For Platteville's part, Kennedy Shea made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, Shea is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Mikala Schnering was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Southwestern has already played their next contest, a 7-0 victory against Darlington on the 12th. As for Platteville, they will venture away from home to face off against River Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
