Baseball Recap: Stevens Has No Trouble Against Harlan

There's no place like home for Stevens, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They never let the Harlan Hawks get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Friday. The contest marked the Falcons' most dominant win of the season.

Not much got past Jeremy Gallardo, who gave up just seven hits to keep Harlan off the board. Gallardo has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Eric Mendoza, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Michael Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Stevens always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Stevens' victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11. As for Harlan, they moved to 10-10 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Stevens will host Brennan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Harlan, they will take on United South at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight.
