Softball Recap: Brunswick Railroaders vs. Liberty Lions
With a playoff win on the line, Brunswick rose to the challenge on Thursday. They skirted past the Liberty Lions 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Railroaders have posted since May 6, 2024.
Kassidy Barnhouse spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Juliette Bel was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylor Benson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Brunswick lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Brunswick has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8-1.
Looking ahead, Brunswick will face off against Catoctin on Monday. Liberty does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
