Roswell proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 28) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Walton Raiders 30-28. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hornets also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

One reason for the win was Roswell's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Josh Emerson and Hayes Kenerly, who racked up four sacks between them. Brody Duffy was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 17 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Walton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christion Peacock, who threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 59 yards on only seven carries. A healthy portion of Peacock's aerial production (82 yards to be exact) went to Noriega Thompson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Roswell's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Walton, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roswell will head out to square off against Buford at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Walton, they will venture away from home to face off against Norcross at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
