Baseball Recap: Ashe County Huskies vs. Watauga Pioneers
Ashe County's last matchup with Watauga could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Thursday. The Huskies lost 9-3 to the Pioneers. The defeat continues a trend for the Huskies in their meetings with the Pioneers: they've now lost four in a row.
Drew Cheek made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two stolen bases. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Eli Gilley, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Ashe County's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Watauga, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-11.
