Elko had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Lewiston on Saturday. Elko blew past Lewiston 11-3. Considering the Indians have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Elko got a great performance from Abrianna Lesbo as she tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Adausha O'Berto was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Piper Martin was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Elko has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. Lewiston is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Looking ahead, Elko is taking a road trip to square off against Spring Creek at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lewiston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake City at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
