Baseball Recap: Delta Extends Winning Streak to Five

Delta had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers with a sharp 12-3 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by nine runs or more this season.

Cale Taylor looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

On the hitting side, Delta got a big performance out of Chase Ritchie, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Ryan Neal was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Delta's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Alexandria-Monroe, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-3 record.

Coming up, Delta will face off against Yorktown at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Alexandria-Monroe, they will welcome Tipton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
