Softball Recap: Normal University Drops Highest Score of Season Against Decatur Eisenhower

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Normal University). Everything went their way against the Decatur Eisenhower Panthers on Tuesday as they made off with a 20-0 victory. The Pioneers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Meera Sundaram was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Plattner, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Normal University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Normal University has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Decatur Eisenhower, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Normal University will square off against Washington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Decatur Eisenhower, they will face off against Mt. Zion at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Braves will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
