Baseball Game Preview: Pioneer Titans vs. High Tech SD Storm

The Pioneer Titans will face off against the High Tech SD Storm at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pioneer is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Mountain View by a score of 6-3.

Meanwhile, High Tech SD waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Flashes 3-1.

Devon Caris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. He is becoming a predictor of High Tech SD's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 12-3 (and 5-7 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Nano Acevedo was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Pioneer is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for High Tech SD, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-10.
