After losing to Nokomis the last time they met, Brewer decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Brewer Witches sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Nokomis Warriors on Tuesday.
Brewer took Nokomis into a fifth set where they got it done with a nine-point win. The final score came out to 25-16, 17-25, 17-25, 25-21, 15-6.
Brewer can attribute much of their success to Zoe Drake, who had five digs and four aces.
She wasn't the only good server: Brewer was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in 11 consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Despite the loss, Nokomis still got an impressive performance from Jayden Hood, who had eight aces and five digs.
