Softball Recap: San Dimas Wins Going Away Against Duarte

Duarte typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday San Dimas proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Falcons. Considering the Saints have won eight games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Brook D'Amato was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. D'Amato was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Maya Medina was a standout: she fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tiffany Villegas, who went 3-for-6 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two doubles.

San Dimas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

San Dimas' record is now 13-11-1. As for Duarte, they moved to 18-5 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Dimas will take on South Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskies' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Saints' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Duarte, they will face off against Ontario Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
