Baseball Recap: Cardinal's Losing Streak Snapped at Nine Games

Cardinal had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Andrews Osborne Academy Phoenix on Tuesday.

Evan Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cardinal is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-14 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carter Tucker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reese Solitis, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Cardinal's victory bumped their record up to 2-15. As for Andrews Osborne Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.

Looking ahead, Cardinal will venture away from home to square off against Conneaut at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskies are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on an 18-game losing streak. As for Andrews Osborne Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Fuchs Mizrachi at 5:00 p.m. The Phoenix will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Mayhem will have lost four straight heading into Wednesday's game.
