            Softball Recap: Barron Golden Bears vs. St. Croix Falls Saints        
        
		
        
        
            Barron hadn't done well against St. Croix Falls recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Tuesday. The Golden Bears came out on top against the Saints by a score of  7-4. That's two games straight that the Golden Bears have won by  exactly three  runs.

 Kailynn Duncan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned  (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't  tossed less than eight  strikeouts any time she's  pitched this season.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Micahlee Skjerly, who  went 2-for-4 with three  RBI, one  triple,  and one  stolen base. That  triple marked the first that  she has  hit this season. Another player making a difference was  Ariella McDonald, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with two  runs and one  RBI.
 They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Barron  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 11  hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Croix Falls only managed four  hits.
Barron has  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3-1 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for St. Croix Falls,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 3-4.
 Looking ahead, Barron will look to defend their home field  on Thursday against Ladysmith  at 5:00  p.m. As for St. Croix Falls, they will venture away from home to  square off against Chetek-Weyerhaeuser  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Saints are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on  a  six-game losing streak.
