Shelbyville can attribute much of their success to Jayla Ash, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds, and Hannah Baker, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 14 boards. The matchup was Baker's third in a row with at least 17 points. Savannah Collins was another key player, going 5-for-9 on her way to 14 points.
Shelbyville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Columbus North on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Terre Haute North Vigo out of the water with a 53-22 final score. The Bull Dogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 23 points or more this season.
Columbus North's win came from a few key players Shelbyville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ava Wilson, who posted 13 points and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylie Harmon, who shot 45% from the field en route to 14 points and three steals.
Shelbyville's record now sits at 4-1. As for Columbus North, their record is now 6-0.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Shelbyville has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Columbus North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
