Basketball Recap: Zion-Benton Comes Up Short

Zion-Benton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lake Zurich Bears. While losing is never fun, the Zee-Bees can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 350th, while the Bears are ranked 152nd).

Zion-Benton's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Lake Zurich, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Zion-Benton will take on Libertyville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Zurich has already played their next game (against Mundelein), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
