Baseball Recap: La Porte Has No Trouble Against Lowell

La Porte won the last time they faced Lowell and things went their way on Saturday too. The Slicers put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 12-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Slicers.

La Porte got a great performance from Logan Hay as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Hay has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chad Rusboldt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gage Raymond, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

La Porte kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.4.

La Porte's record now sits at 11-14. As for Lowell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13-1.

Coming up, La Porte will square off against Portage at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lowell, they will venture away from home to square off against Hobart at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
