Softball Recap: Hartford Hurricanes vs. Burr & Burton Bulldogs
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Hartford and Burr & Burton meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Hurricanes came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 18-6. The Hurricanes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Sylvia Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Madylyn Matheson, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Hartford's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4. As for Burr & Burton, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Hartford is taking a road trip to square off against Springfield at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Burr & Burton, they will take on Mount Anthony at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
