Softball Recap: Kalamazoo Christian Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Kalamazoo Christian dropped their record down to 21-9 on Friday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Mendon Hornets, falling 12-2. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Mendon, they pushed their record up to 22-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.5 runs.

For Mendon's part, Cienna Nightingale was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave Nightingale a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Gracie Schultz, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.

Kalamazoo Christian and Mendon should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Comets (ranked 97th) will meet Gull Lake (ranked 296th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mendon will face off against North Adams-Jerome at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (68 vs. 429).
