Basketball Preview: Tri-West Hendricks Bruins vs. Speedway Sparkplugs

Tri-West Hendricks is 7-1 against the Sparkplugs since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Tri-West Hendricks Bruins will be playing in front of their home fans against the Speedway Sparkplugs at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.

Tri-West Hendricks had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 59-47 victory over Martinsville. Given Tri-West Hendricks' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Artesians are ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tri-West Hendricks had a senior duo take command as Drew Miller dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds and Max Robertson scored 19 points. Miller also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmy Sorgi, who scored ten points along with two steals.

Even though Speedway has not done well against the Tigers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Speedway secured a 76-71 W over the Tigers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Speedway.

Tri-West Hendricks' win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Speedway, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Tri-West Hendricks strolled past the Sparkplugs when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 61-47. Does Tri-West Hendricks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sparkplugs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
