Hawkins won the last time they faced Martins Mill and things went their way on Friday too. The Hawks came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mustangs, sneaking past 7-5. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by exactly two runs.

Kalyn Ellison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Londyn Wilson and Karsyn Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Wilson scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Johnson scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Taetum Smith, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Hawkins hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matches.

Hawkins' record now sits at 13-10-1. As for Martins Mill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Hawkins didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-3 victory against Fruitvale on the 15th. As for Martins Mill, they will square off against Como-Pickton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
