Baseball Game Preview: Cabrillo Conquistadores vs. Atascadero Greyhounds

The Cabrillo Conquistadores will face off against the Atascadero Greyhounds at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cabrillo will be strutting in after a victory while Atascadero will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Cabrillo turned things around against Mission College Prep on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Royals a 7-0 shutout. The game was the first time the Conquistadores have beaten the Royals on their field since April 5, 2023.

Atascadero couldn't beat Paso Robles on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Greyhounds fell 9-4 to the Bearcats. Greyhounds fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bearcats since on Thursday.

Atascadero saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reid Gearhart, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Ty De Brum also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Atascadero and nudges their season record down to 12-14. As for Cabrillo, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
