Baseball Game Preview: Southeast Spartans vs. Altus Bulldogs

The Southeast Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Altus Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Southeast has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while Altus will arrive with four straight wins.

Southeast and Western Heights faced off in a cross-town battle on Friday. Southeast fell just short of Western Heights by a score of 2-0.

Meanwhile, Altus got the win against Big Pasture on Thursday by a conclusive 8-2. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Altus' victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kashton Lamb, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Tate Saxon also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Altus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .516 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Southeast's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Altus, their record now sits at 9-3.

Southeast might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Altus in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Southeast avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
