Football Recap: Hays Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Hays played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the College Station Cougars, falling 52-7. The game marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Troy Wright threw for 30 yards on seven of 15 attempts. On the ground, Gabriel Peach rushed for 51 yards.

Leading College Station to victory were Trey Walton and Keaton Johnson. Walton gained 109 total yards, while Johnson rushed for 93 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. Walton also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Cougars are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-4 otherwise.

This is the second loss in a row for Hays and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for College Station, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Coming up, Hays will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Anderson at 7:30 p.m. The Hawks will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for College Station, they will head out on the road to square off against Lockhart at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.57 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
