Baseball Recap: Riverview Sarasota Comes Up Short

Riverview Sarasota lost against Gulf Coast back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Riverview Sarasota Rams fell 6-2 to the Gulf Coast Sharks. The Rams' loss continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

Morgan Peggs was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off only one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

Riverview Sarasota's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Gulf Coast, they moved to 8-7 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Riverview Sarasota and Gulf Coast could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Riverview Sarasota (ranked 421st) will meet Braden River (ranked 157th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Gulf Coast will face off against Barron Collier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday down 114 places (217 vs. 103).
