Football Recap: Mountain Grove Finds Playoff Glory Versus Clever

It's playoff time, and Mountain Grove had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 28-21 win over the Clever Blue Jays on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Panthers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Blue Jays are ranked 131st).

Braydon Curtiss continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 175 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Aden Estep was another key player, rushing for 124 yards and one touchdown.

Mountain Grove didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kaden Murphy and Estep.

The victory (which was Mountain Grove's tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.6 points over those games. As for Clever, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-3.

Coming up, Mountain Grove will square off against Seneca at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd. Clever does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
