Softball Recap: Calvin Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Calvin challenged Montgomery on Thursday. The Cougars lost 11-5 to the Tigers. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Kyleigh Blundell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Mattie Barnes, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Calvin now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Montgomery, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvin will head out to challenge Georgetown at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Montgomery, they will venture away from home to take on Florien at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
