Preview: Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats vs. Banquete Bulldogs
The Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats are on the road again on Friday and play against the Banquete Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 60-23, which was the final score in Skidmore-Tynan's tilt against Sinton on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Skidmore-Tynan came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 394th, while Sinton is ranked 1225th).
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Skidmore-Tynan struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Banquete's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 49-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Freer. Banquete has struggled against Freer recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Skidmore-Tynan's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2. As for Banquete, they bumped their record down to 1-13 with that loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Skidmore-Tynan against Banquete when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 71-29 victory. With Skidmore-Tynan ahead 42-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.
