Carly Holman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
In other batting news, John Paul II let Bridget Mulligan and Grace James run wild. Mulligan went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while James went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Katy Holman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
John Paul II was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Emily Cash made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Kruetz, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
John Paul II is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. Ursuline Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. John Paul II has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .515. However, it's not like Ursuline Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .508. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
