Football Recap: Lawndale Piles Up the Points Against Wilson

Lawndale strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Wilson Mules, posting a 69-7 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-7.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lawndale to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayvaughn Whitaker, who rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Whitaker's longest rush was for an impressive 61 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. King Berry was in the mix too, providing Lawndale with two TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lawndale was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 257 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Lawndale didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Berry, Christen Stephens, and Nathan Williams picked up one apiece.

Lawndale's record now sits at 3-0. As for Wilson, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Lawndale has already played their next game, a 27-20 loss against St. Monica on the 12th. As for Wilson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 25-6 defeat against Legacy on the 12th.
