Baseball Game Preview: Creek Wood Red Hawks vs. Grace Christian Academy Lions

The Creek Wood Red Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Grace Christian Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Creek Wood is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Creek Wood proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 17) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past West Creek 4-3. While the Red Hawks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Brody Butts looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those two hits allowed gave him a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Creek Wood let Boone Harris and Ej Larkin run wild. Harris scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Larkin scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Harris has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Hunter Bennett was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Grace Christian Academy not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th. They put the hurt on Whitney Young with a sharp 10-1 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Creek Wood's record now sits at 14-2. As for Grace Christian Academy, their record now sits at 4-11.

Creek Wood might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Grace Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can Creek Wood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
