Recap: Stonington Bears vs. Lyman Memorial Bulldogs

The Stonington Bears had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They had just enough and edged Lyman Memorial out 51-49. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Stonington also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.

When it comes to explaining why Lyman Memorial lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kevin Botticello . Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Botticello 's third in a row with at least ten points. Owen Christiansen was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Stonington's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Lyman Memorial, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-3.

Stonington will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Killingly at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Killingly is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Lyman Memorial will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Coventry at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Coventry comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
