Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cromwell). They breezed by the Kennedy Eagles to the tune of 49-19 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted since January 9th.
Cromwell found their leader in sophomore Peyton Kelleher, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Kelleher has scored at least a third of Cromwell's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Piper Kovacs, who posted nine points in addition to five assists and five boards.
Cromwell was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Cromwell's win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Kennedy, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
Cromwell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 48-28 victory against Valley Regional on the 30th. As for Kennedy, they will take on Naugatuck at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
