Softball Game Preview: Canyon Comanches vs. Cypress Centurions

The Canyon Comanches will take on the Cypress Centurions at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Canyon 2.9, Cypress 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Canyon is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of California's top teams: El Modena, who was ranked tenth at the time (Canyon was ranked eighth). The Comanches fell 4-0 to the Vanguards on Tuesday. The Comanches' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Cypress made easy work of Mayfair on Saturday and carried off an 8-1 win. Considering the Centurions have won six games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Cypress' victory was truly a team effort as ten different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Leah Adams, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Adams also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Another was Sanaiyah 'Naya' Cleland, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Cypress always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.

Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Cypress, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.

Canyon came out on top in a nail-biter against Cypress in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Comanches have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Centurions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
