Softball Recap: Mabel-Canton Gets the Win

Mabel-Canton posted their closest victory since April 25th on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander Superlarks, sneaking past 2-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-1 back in April.

Not much got past Tylar Wenthold, who gave up just two hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander off the board. Wenthold has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ella Halverson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

The win made it two in a row for Mabel-Canton and bumps their season record up to 14-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.

Mabel-Canton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Goodhue on the 14th. As for Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-3 victory against Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons on the 16th.
