Volleyball Recap: St. Pius X Beats Duchesne for Their Third Straight Victory

St. Pius X waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Duchesne Pioneers. That's more bragging rights for the Lancers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant St. Pius X was: they took every set by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-13, 25-9.

Reece Archer paced St. Pius X's offense, picking up 11 kills. Archer got some help from Manny Verzola and his 20 assists. Archer was also solid from the service line: he led the team with seven aces.

When it comes to explaining why Duchesne lost, don't look at Brody Keathley. Despite the final result, he had 18 digs and one assist. Keathley is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 13 or more in each of the last five games he's played.

St. Pius X's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. As for Duchesne, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-18-1 record this season.

St. Pius X didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Bayless on the 30th. As for Duchesne, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Maplewood-Richmond Heights on the 29th.
