Basketball Recap: Trinity Phillips' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Era over Slidell

Era lost against Slidell back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Era Hornets took a 48-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Slidell Greyhounds. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 861st, while the Greyhounds are ranked 416th).

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trinity Phillips, who posted 11 points and five assists.

Era has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season. As for Slidell, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.

Era will square off against Muenster at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Muenster will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Era surely won't give up without a fight. As for Slidell, they and Tioga will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
