Recap: Spartanburg vs. Riverside
After a disappointing seven points in their last match, Spartanburg made sure to put some points up on the board against Riverside on Friday. Spartanburg steamrollered Riverside 52-7. That looming 45-point mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Spartanburg yet.
Spartanburg got off to a slow start in their matchup last week, but they had no such trouble against Riverside as they cruised to a 52-point first half. Meanwhile, Riverside couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 52-0 heading into the break. Spartanburg were outperformed in the second half 0-7 but had enough points saved up to walk away with the win.
Spartanburg found their leader in underclassman sophomore Zay Foster, who passed for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns. Senior Zykamren Robinson was in the mix, too, providing Spartanburg with two touchdowns.
It's more conference action for Spartanburg and Riverside in their upcoming matches. Spartanburg will square off against Gaffney at 7:30 PM next week. These teams both have set a high bar for this contest after stand-out offensive performances in their previous contests. Riverside will take on Dorman at home at 7:30 PM next week. Riverside have seen their point totals decreasing over the past three games, a vulnerability Dorman are surely hoping to exploit.
