Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Brooke Holmes and Sami Stephenson Lead Chapin to Victory

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Chapin had no problem doing just that on Monday. They came out on top against the St. James Sharks by a score of 48-41.

Chapin was led to victory by Sami Stephenson and Brooke Holmes. Stephenson went 5-for-6 on her way to 13 points and six rebounds, while Holmes went 7-for-14 to rack up 20 points. Chapin is undefeated when Holmes posts 15 or more points, but 8-14 otherwise. Keke Wright was another key player, putting up four points and five steals.

Chapin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in nine consecutive games.

St. James lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Raegan Tibbits, who posted eight points in addition to six assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Leila Yandle, who put up 11 points.

Chapin pushed their record up to 13-14 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points over those games. As for St. James, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-14.

Chapin has already played their next contest, a 49-35 loss against North Myrtle Beach on the 20th. St. James does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
