Basketball Recap: Columbia Comes Up Short

Columbia lost against Bear Grass Charter back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Columbia Wildcats took a 59-45 bruising from the Bear Grass Charter Bears.

Despite the loss, Columbia still got an impressive performance from Jayden Sawyer, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Marlow, who posted three points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.

Columbia dropped their record down to 4-16 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Bear Grass Charter, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-10.

Coming up, Columbia will head out on the road to take on Cape Hatteras at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbia is facing Cape Hatteras at the right time seeing as Cape Hatteras is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Bear Grass Charter, they will venture away from home to square off against Mattamuskeet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Bear Grass Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Mattamuskeet likes a good challenge.
