Basketball Recap: Maggie Mason's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Galesburg Christian over Quad Cities Christian

If Galesburg Christian was feeling good fresh off their 49-22 takedown of Varsity Opponent last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Galesburg Christian Lions fell to the Quad Cities Christian Eagles 31-25. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 35-22.

Galesburg Christian's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maggie Mason, who posted four points along with ten steals and eight rebounds. Mason is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lauren Walker, who put up five points in addition to 15 boards and six steals.

Even though they lost, Galesburg Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

Ayda Kyer was the offensive standout of the matchup as she almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Bollinger, who scored eight points.

Galesburg Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Quad Cities Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-15 record this season.
