Basketball Recap: Forest Hills Starts Season with Victory Against Derry

Forest Hills had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They took down the Derry Trojans 83-67.

Leading Forest Hills to victory were Koy McGough and Dylan Stohon. McGough went 12-for-19 on his way to 32 points and seven assists, while Stohon shot 62% from the field en route to 23 points and three steals. Stohon's evening made it 27 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Gregovich, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 11 points and seven rebounds.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Forest Hills was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They racked up six more assists than Derry's also-impressive total of 16.

Despite the loss, Derry still got an impressive performance from Brayden Robinson, who almost dropped a double-double with 29 points and nine boards. Stanley Rajkovich was another key player, shooting 47% from the field on his way to 20 points.

Derry's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Forest Hills has already played their next matchup, a 68-37 victory against Bald Eagle Area on the 5th. As for Derry, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-52 win against Connellsville on the 9th.
