Basketball Recap: Brazoswood Comes Up Short

Brazoswood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a blow against the Deer Park Deer, falling 84-18. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1195th, while the Deer are ranked 319th).

Deer Park's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shelby Tortorici, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points and four steals. Tortorici has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Alyssa Harms was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Brazoswood's defeat dropped their record down to 5-26. As for Deer Park, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-15.

Brazoswood will be playing at home against Clear Creek at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Deer Park, they will venture away from home to take on Clear Springs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Deer Park is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season.
