Basketball Recap: Pisgah Skates Past Smoky Mountain with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pisgah). They claimed a resounding 63-17 win over the Smoky Mountain Mustangs. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bears' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Mustangs are ranked 260th).

Pisgah had a senior duo take command as Kylee Leonard shot 70% from the field to rack up 14 points and four steals and Chandler Lowery went 6-for-12 en route to 12 points along with six assists and three steals. Those 70% shooting accuracy set a new season-high mark for Leonard. Another player making a difference was Alexis Markos, who posted seven points.

Pisgah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 29 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Pisgah's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points over those games. As for Smoky Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Pisgah wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-18 victory against North Henderson on the 16th. As for Smoky Mountain, they will be home for the holidays to greet Tuscola at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
